General Pest Treatment
General pest treatments specifically target Spiders, Ants, Silverfish and Cockroaches. We recommend this is completed every 12 months to keep the pests at bay. However, these pests sometimes need an extra treatment or two to completely remove them. Subsequent visits are included in the price.
Timber Pest Inspection and Treatment
It is strongly recommended that you have a termite inspection on the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads every 6 to 12 months. When buying a home it is highly recommended that you organise a building and pest inspection to decipher the potential problems you may be buying into or whether this is the right house for you.
Termites or ‘White Ant’
Termites are sometimes referred to as ‘white ants’ because of their appearance – this information may assist in detecting and treating these pests. No property is safe from termites! Termites are the cause of the greatest economic losses of timber in service in Australia. Independent data compiled by state forestry shows 1 in every 5 homes are attacked by termites at some stage in its life. More recent data would indicate that this is now 1 in every 3. Australia’s subterranean termite species (white ant) are the most destructive timber pests in the world. In fact, it can take “as little as 3 months for a termite colony to severely damage almost all the timber in a home”.
Inspections
It is strongly recommended that you have a termite inspection in accordance with AS 3660.2, carried out every 6 to 12 months. Any structure can be attacked by Timber Pests. Periodic maintenance should include measures to minimize possibilities of infestation in and around a property. Our Technician will inspect in and around your property using the latest technology (thermal, radar and moisture meters) to make sure we don’t miss a thing. We will then discuss with you our overall findings verbally and send you the thorough report so you have all the information you require to make an informed decision about protecting your property. Included in this report is The Zapem Pest Management Home Termite Protection Plan which is customised to your property construction type.
Termite Treatment
If there is any live termites found during the inspection, our technician will suggest a termite treatment before any preventative treatments are installed.
Termite Chemical Treated Zone
Termite Chemical Treated Zones are a termite prevention that has been around for many years. Different circumstances will factor in on whether this is the right option for you. This will depend on property layout and construction type, the termite infestation and your personal preference. Remember, we will only recommend to you what we think is best as professionals, in the end this is your property and your decision. A Termite Chemical Treated Zone is designed to stop the termites from going closer than 1.5 metres near your property. This is done by digging a trench around your home and pumping it with the chemical (our preference is Termidor HE).
Bait and Monitoring System
Bait and Monitoring Systems are a termite prevention that has proved very popular with Australians. Again, different circumstances will factor in on whether this is the right option for you. This prevention system is suited to for a property which doesn’t quite have the construction layout for a chemical treated zone. For example, a property that is split level. A Bait and Monitoring system is stations that are periodically placed in the ground around your home which attract the termites to them. The stations have bits of wood or cardboard with the treatment on them. They eat these and then take it back to their nests which destroys the whole colony. As professionals, we mostly use Trelona ATBS Advanced Termite Baiting System (Termidor product) as it is the best on the market.

Before buying your new home or investment property, it is highly recommended you have a building and pest inspection to decipher the potential problems you may be buying into or whether this is the right house for you. It is an important part of buying a house and one we are fully qualified to supply. Spiders
Spiders are a common problem in most houses. Although most spiders you find around the home are harmless and can be beneficial to have around the home, there are the few that are venomous that will require pest control. These spiders include Redback Spiders, Funnel-Web spiders, Mouse spiders and a few other species. All have varying degrees of severity if bitten. Whichever spider it is, Zapem Pest Management can help give you tips to minimise or we can treat to eradicate.
Cockroaches
Cockroaches are a fast multiplying pest that can carry harmful bacteria, leave odours and can cause significant damage to electrical appliances. They have also been known to cause allergic reactions and asthma attacks. They love to hide during the day as they are nocturnal insects and they are usually where you least expect them (Dishwasher cavities, toaster, kettle, knife block etc.). They can be quite hard to eradicate once there is an infestation due to several factors. Zapem Pest Management uses a combination of treatments including liquid sprays, baiting gels and insecticide dusts depending on the type of cockroach and infestation. Our technician will be able to investigate and inform you of these factors and also ongoing non chemical solutions for you to carry out.
Rats & Mice
Rats and mice can cause major problems to a property owner. Not only can they cause significant damage to your property from their gnawing habits (wiring, appliances, furniture etc.), but they are huge carriers of bacteria and diseases. Their droppings can cause asthma attacks, and they can cause their predator, snakes, to come looking for them in your home or business. There are many ways you can find out if you have this pest in or around your property – droppings, gnawing, bumping /squeaking /gnawing /scratching sounds, odours, visual sightings etc. At Zapem Pest Management, we use Lockable Stations to prevent animals or children gaining access to the baits. Treating rodents sometimes require subsequent visits for more treatments.
Bees & Wasps
Bees and Wasps are usually more active in the hotter months which is why it is recommended to treat larger nests in the cooler months. Wasps are usually more aggressive than Bees but both can give painful and sometimes deadly stings. Bees nests have sometimes been found in wall cavities. For these reasons it is recommended to call a professional pest technician to remove the nests.
Fleas
Fleas can be an issue not only for your pets but also for any persons living or working in the area. Fleas can reproduce and spread rapidly which isn’t ideal as once there is an infestation, they are difficult to control. They can be found in carpet and furniture as well as pet areas. It is best to contact a professional pest technician as soon as possible if you suspect fleas but they can also stay dormant for up to 10 months so prevention can be key. Our technician will talk you through these suggestions so you can stop an infestation from getting out of control in the future.
Bed Bugs
Bed Bugs have been known as nocturnal blood suckers. They can spread easily and can cause illness’ and allergies. They are well known as pests in hostels, backpackers, motels etc as well as our homes. It can be quite difficult to eradicate these pests due to their tight hiding spaces (cracks and crevices in mattresses, coils of springs and upholstery in chairs etc.) and hitchhiking abilities (spreading fast). With the help of your Zapem Pest Management Technician, together you remove these pests from your home or business using chemical and non chemical solutions.
Ants
Ants can be a huge nuisance and usually show before and after significant rain. Huge nests have been found inside wall cavities unbeknown to the property owner. Due to certain factors, a combination of baiting and pest control sprays are sometimes needed along with subsequent visits for more treatments.
